Jul 15: Ramadan is for all, and with this spirit in mind, a PAS delegation led by the Islamic party's Welfare and Community bureau chief Dr Siti Mariah Mahmood visited one of Kuala Lumpur's seedier parts to get a closer look at its community.

Residents of Lorong Haji Taib, located a stone's throw away from the PAS headquarters on Jalan Raja Laut, welcomed them, with many seen engaging in conversation with Mariah.
Mariah in turn extended Ramadan greetings to them, and invited them to join for iftar (breaking of fast) at the nearby PAS headquarters.
"This Ramadan, we have prepared food for breaking of fast. Do come, we can also participate in tarawih prayers," she was overheard saying to one resident.
Another resident lamented that she had no proper attire to attend the tarawih, the nightly optional prayer performed througout the holy month.
"Not to worry, we have prayer attires ready," replied Mariah, who is also the Kota Raja MP.
For the past five years, PAS's Ihya Ramadan fund has helped residents of the lane, notorious for its prostitution activities, to help improve their lives as part of a programme to bring them out of vice.
