It's still a crime, says PAS over youth's abduction over Islam insult

Jul 19: PAS Youth secretary Khairul Fazi described as unacceptable the incident in which a youth was abducted and assaulted before being left naked with the words that "I have insulted Islam" scrawled on his body.

Ng Mun Tat (pic) later told the media that the words were painted by his abductors in order to stop the public from coming to his rescue.

He however denied that he had insulted Islam.

“PAS Youth views this as a crime unacceptable to the public,” stressed Khairul, adding that it was most regrettable that the criminals had invoked religion to commit the act.

“The culprits should be caught and punished accordingly for tarnishing the sanctity of Islam and the unity of the people,” he added.

Khairul said Islam promoted harmony, peace and ensured safety of all human beings.

“Islam respects other religions just as how it demands respect from others,” he added.

He warned the public against taking advantage of the anger created by porn bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee, who riled Muslims with their so-called Ramadan greeting accompanied by a picture of a pork dish.
