Jul 19: PAS has urged Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said to explain the state's handover of a 200-acre land to an unreliable company in the tourist destination of Pulau Perhentian.
Vice president Husam Musa, who currently heads PAS's campaign for the Kuala Besut state by-election, also questioned why the company was only required to pay a low premium of RM21,000 for the lucrative real estate.
Worse, he said, the company did not develop the land, instead it made quick profit by selling the strategic plot along the coastline to third parties.
“Why sell it to third parties? If it is a credible company, it should have developed it,” he said.
Husam said at the same time, villagers in the island had their lands applications frozen.
He added there was also an attempt to take over a plot of 40 lots of lands from locals for beautification project which will see villagers relocated.
Husam said the affected villagers should now vote PAS’s candidate Azlan Yusof at the July 24 poll in order to strengthen the opposition’s voice in the state assembly.
