Altantuya’s father upset over acquittal, wants Mongolia to intervene

The father of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu is upset with the Court of Appeal's decision today to acquit the two ex-Malaysian policemen who had been convicted for her murder.
News portal MalaysiaKini contacted Setev Shaariibuu through a Mongolian lawyer but the man refused to give a statement and only said, “It is time the government of Mongolia made a statement about this."

The report quoted Mongolian lawyer Munkhsaruul Mijiddorj as saying his client expected the verdict and felt that he must now take the case to a higher level to seek justice for his daughter.
Setev has a RM100-million civil suit pending against Abdul Razak Baginda, Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar and the government. He is suing them over his daughter’s death.
Azilah and Sirul were jointly charged with murdering Altantuya, while Abdul Razak was charged with abetting them. Abdul Razak was acquitted in 2008 without his defence being called, while Azilah and Sirul were convicted by the High Court in 2009.
The Court of Appeal today set free Azilah and Sirul.
The decision has now raised more questions about Altantuya's murder.
DAP national legal bureau chairman Gobind Singh Deo has even called for an independent inquiry into the conduct of the prosecution.
He said the prosecution team's case was full of gaps and weaknesses, including its failure to call an important witness, DSP Musa Safri. – August 23, 2013.
